01Problem
Many people want to reflect but stall before they write a word. I designed Wara around two moments where journaling tends to break down.
- The blank page
- An open-ended first screen can make it harder to know where to begin.
- The missed day
- A streak that resets to zero can make coming back feel like failure.

02Solution
Prototype journey
A prompt to start, a free path if you don't need one
The entry screen offers recognizable starting points: a thought, a relationship, a struggle or gratitude. A separate action still lets someone write freely, and a new entry opens without a long setup sequence.

Coming back without pressure
The home screen combines a streak display, a daily check-in and a prompt. I designed the streak so a missed day reads as a gap, not a lost record.

Other ways in
Not every visit needs to be a written entry. Daily affirmations give people something to read, save or share, voice reflection offers a route other than typing, and the first journal each day earns reflection points toward new avatars.

03Goal
Make reflection easy to start and easy to come back to, without a missed day feeling like failure.
04Impact
Wara is in Apple App Store review, and the interactive prototype is available to explore. The next step is putting it in people's hands to see whether a prompt-led start helps them begin.

05Takeaways
- 1.
Guidance should be optional. Prompts help people who are stuck, as long as there's always a way to write freely.
- 2.
Design for the return, not just the streak. The day after a gap matters as much as the sixth day in a row.
- 3.
Keep one story. A focused core flow says more than a list of every feature.
